A Clinical Fellow (CF) training position in Speech Pathology is available at the VA Northern
California Health Care System (VANCHCS) for Fall 2024. The position includes clinical rotations
throughout the VA Northern California Healthcare System with the primary location in
Sacramento. There will be an emphasis on advancing knowledge and skills in neurogenic
communication disorders in addition to gaining experience in the full range of adult medical
Speech-Language Pathology services.
The VANCHCS is a Level 1a (highest complexity) facility with an acute care hospital offering both
inpatient and outpatient Speech Pathology services. Clinical experiences in the evaluation and
treatment of neurogenic communication disorders, including aphasia, motor speech disorders,
and cognitive-communication impairments will be an integral part of the CF. The CF will also
develop skills in clinical and instrumental swallowing evaluations, tracheostoma and TEP
placement/management, voice assessment/management, and aural rehabilitation.
